The National Cadet Corps (NCC) was established under the NCC Act of 1948 and came into existence on 15 July 1948. It aims to develop discipline, leadership, character, and a spirit of service among students.
The NCC is the successor of the University Officers’ Training Corps (UOTC). Based on the recommendations of a committee headed by Pandit H. N. Kunzru, the NCC was formed as a national-level cadet organization for schools and colleges.
During the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars, NCC cadets served as the second line of defence, assisting the armed forces and Civil Defence in various support roles.
Today, NCC training focuses on leadership development, social service, and youth management, helping students become responsible and confident citizens.
The NCC Flag features the NCC Crest in gold at its center, with the letters “NCC” encircled by a wreath of seventeen lotuses.
The flag has a tricolour background:
Red – Represents the Army
Deep Blue – Represents the Navy
Light Blue – Represents the Air Force
The seventeen lotuses symbolize the 17 State Directorates of the National Cadet Corps.
At the bottom of the flag is the NCC motto, “Unity of Discipline” (Ekta aur Anushasan), reflecting the core values of the organization.
Develop Human Resources: Create organized, trained, and motivated youth ready to serve the nation.
Leadership Training: Provide leadership skills applicable in all walks of life.
Career Motivation: Encourage youth to consider a career in the armed forces.
Character Development: Foster qualities like character, discipline, comradeship, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, and selfless service.
“Unity and Discipline”
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, 2025, NCC Company 2/5, MREC organized a special event to honor women. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the Chief Guest, IPS Ms. Seshadirini Reddy.
A total of 40 NCC cadets (27 Senior Division and 13 Senior Wing), along with the NCC ANO, faculty members, and students of MREC, actively participated in the rally. The Principal, Dr. A. Ramaswamy Reddy, expressed his unwavering support and encouragement for the NCC cadets. He wished them continued success and extended his heartfelt greetings to all those in attendance.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, observed on 08.03.2025, NCC Company 2/5, MREC organized a rally to celebrate and honor women. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the Chief Guest, IPS Ms. Seshadirini Reddy.
A total of 40 NCC cadets (Senior Division: 27, Senior Wing: 13), along with the NCC ANO, faculty members, and students of MREC, actively participated in the rally. The Principal, Dr. A. Ramaswamy Reddy, expressed his continued support and encouragement for the NCC cadets, wished them success, and extended his heartfelt greetings to all in attendance.
The rally served as a meaningful initiative to raise awareness about gender equality and to recognize the valuable contributions of women in society.
It was indeed a fantastic and memorable event. The parasailing activity, successfully organized by the 4T Battalion NCC, Secunderabad Group, under the AP & Telangana Directorate at the Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, provided an exciting and enriching experience for the cadets. A total of six cadets from COY 2/5 MREC participated in the event, comprising four Senior Division (SD) and two Senior Wing (SW) cadets. The event not only boosted their confidence but also fostered a spirit of adventure and teamwork. The Principal, Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, appreciated the cadets for their enthusiastic participation and congratulated them on their achievement, expressing pride in their performance.
On 26th January 2025, the NCC Republic Day Parade was solemnly conducted at the MREC campus. A total of 39 NCC members participated in the event, including ANO Lt. Balaji Krushna P and 36 cadets from the Senior Division (SD–26) and Senior Wing (SW–12). The programme commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony, which was performed by the Principal, Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, in the presence of Deans, Heads of Departments, teaching and non-teaching staff, and NSS volunteers. Following the ceremony, the NCC cadets presented an impressive parade, marching in perfect coordination and saluting the Principal, thereby paying tribute to the spirit of the Republic. The event showcased the discipline, dedication, and patriotism of the NCC cadets and fostered a sense of unity across the MREC campus in celebrating Republic Day.
NCC Orientation Day 2024 was successfully conducted at MREC. The event was graced by officials from the 4T Battalion, Indian Army, whose presence added significance to the occasion. The Principal, Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, congratulated all the newly selected NCC cadets and encouraged them to uphold the values of discipline, leadership, and service. The programme witnessed active participation from Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students of MREC, making the event a memorable and motivating experience.
The NCC Cadets Ranking Ceremony 2024 was successfully conducted at NCC COY 2/5 MREC. The event was graced by 4T Battalion Subedar Major Jasvir Singh, who presented the ranks to the cadets. The Principal, Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, congratulated all the rank holders and appreciated their dedication, discipline, and leadership. The ceremony motivated the cadets to continue striving for excellence and uphold the values of the NCC.
NCC Day 2024 was successfully celebrated by NCC COY 2/5 MREC on 22nd November 2024 at the MREC Mini Auditorium. The event was graced by 4T Battalion Subedar Major Jasvir Singh and the PI staff, whose presence added significance to the occasion. A total of 40 NCC cadets participated in the programme, including 27 Senior Division (SD) and 13 Senior Wing (SW) cadets, along with ANO Lt. Balaji Krushna P. The event also witnessed the participation of Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students of MREC.
The NCC cadets showcased their talents through various cultural performances such as dance, singing, instrumental music, and pyramid formations, which were well received by the audience. The Principal, Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, appreciated the cadets for their enthusiastic participation and commendable performances, and encouraged them to continue excelling in both curricular and co-curricular activities.
On 6th November 2024, the 4T Battalion NCC selections were successfully conducted at MREC. The Principal, Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, extended a warm welcome to the Army officers—Commanding Officer Col. Ashish Tripathi, Administrative Officer Lt. Col. Asitosh Gupta—and the PI staff. He also conveyed his best wishes to all the students selected for the subsequent rounds of the selection process.
The selections were conducted under the supervision of MREC NCC ANO Lt. Balaji Krushna P, along with the 4T Battalion CO, AO, Subedar Major, and PI staff. A total of 650 students registered for the selections. In the first screening test, 150 students were shortlisted. The final selection process included ground tests, medical tests, physical fitness tests, activity-based assessments, and a written test. After completing all stages, 50 students were finally selected out of the 150 shortlisted candidates.
The Har Ghar Tiranga Rally was successfully organized by NCC COY 2/5 MREC on 14th August 2024, commencing from the MREC Campus and proceeding to Maisammaguda Village. The event was graced by the Principal, Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, who flagged off the rally and motivated the participants. A total of 21 NCC cadets participated in the rally, comprising 14 Senior Division (SD) and 7 Senior Wing (SW) cadets, along with ANO Lt. Balaji Krushna P, NSS volunteers, Deans, Heads of Departments, and staff members. The rally aimed to promote patriotism and encourage citizens to hoist the National Flag, reflecting the spirit of unity and national pride.
Independence Day celebrations were conducted by NCC COY 2/5 MREC on 15th August 2024 at the MREC Campus. The occasion was graced by the Principal, Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, who hoisted the National Flag and addressed the gathering. A total of 21 NCC cadets participated in the event, comprising 14 Senior Division (SD) and 7 Senior Wing (SW) cadets, along with ANO Lt. Balaji Krushna P, Deans, Heads of Departments, and staff members. The celebration reflected the spirit of patriotism, unity, and discipline among the cadets and the campus community.

A team of MREC NCC COY 2/5 cadets actively participated in the Anti-Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking event organized at Shilpa Kala Vedika, Hitech City, to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking. A total of 10 Senior Division (SD) cadets represented MREC and contributed to spreading awareness on the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of a drug-free society.
The event provided the cadets an opportunity to engage with the community, demonstrate social responsibility, and reinforce NCC’s commitment to promoting healthy and disciplined lifestyles among youth.

NCC COY 2/5 MREC celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June 2024 at the MREC Yoga Center. The occasion was graced by Principal Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, who encouraged cadets to embrace yoga for physical and mental well-being.
The yoga session was conducted by Dr. K. Srinivasa Rao, a certified yoga trainer, who guided the participants through various asanas and breathing exercises. A total of 20 NCC cadets (SD–13, SW–7) along with ANO Lt. Balaji Krushna P actively participated in the session, demonstrating enthusiasm and discipline throughout the event.
The program promoted awareness of the importance of yoga in daily life and highlighted the NCC’s commitment to holistic development of cadets.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, MREC organized the “SAVE EARTH” campaign on 5th June 2024. The event was inaugurated by Principal Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, who launched the event poster and emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable practices.
The program witnessed active participation from 12 NCC cadets (SW–6, SD–6), along with students from various departments: ECE – 50, CSE – 55, CSE DS – 40, and ANO Lt. Balaji Krushna P. The campaign aimed to raise awareness about environmental protection, promote eco-friendly practices, and encourage students and cadets to contribute to a sustainable future.

The UG NBA Inspection Committee visited Malla Reddy Engineering College (MREC) on 2nd March 2024. The visit was warmly welcomed by Principal Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, who greeted the distinguished NBA expert committee members and facilitated their campus tour.
During the visit, NCC COY 2/5 MREC ANO Lt. Balaji Krushna P and cadets extended their hospitality and guided the committee members, showcasing the active participation of NCC cadets in campus activities and events. The interaction reflected the discipline, coordination, and organizational support provided by the NCC unit.

A Mega Blood Donation Camp was successfully conducted at MREC on 27th February 2024 in association with the Red Cross Society, Telangana State Branch. The event was inaugurated by Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, Principal, who emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation and social responsibility.
NCC cadets actively participated in the camp and donated blood, contributing to the welfare of society and demonstrating their commitment to community service.

The 4T Battalion NCC selections were conducted at MREC on 27th September 2023. The event was warmly welcomed by Principal Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, who greeted the Army officers and conveyed his best wishes to all the students selected for the subsequent rounds.
The selections were carried out under the supervision of MREC NCC CTO, along with the 4T Battalion CO, AO, SM, and PI staff. A total of 608 students registered for the selections. In the first screening test, 215 students were shortlisted. The final selection process included ground tests, medical tests, physical fitness tests, activity-based assessments, and written tests. After completing all stages, 68 students were finally selected out of the 215 candidates.

The Graduation, Placement & Alumni Day was held on 1st July 2023 at MREC Campus. As part of the ceremonial proceedings, NCC cadets performed a Guard of Honour to welcome Chairman Ch. Malla Reddy and Director Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy.
The Chairman appreciated the cadets for their disciplined and precise performance. A total of over 20 NCC cadets participated in this ceremonial duty, reflecting their commitment, discipline, and pride in representing MREC.

The CATC IX Camp organized by 4T Battalion NCC was successfully conducted at MREC Campus from 27th September to 4th October 2022. The camp witnessed participation from NCC cadets of Secunderabad Group Schools and Colleges, with over 600 Junior Division/Junior Wing (JD/JW) and Senior Division/Senior Wing (SD/SW) cadets from different locations across Telangana.
The successful conduct of the camp was made possible with the active support and cooperation of Principal Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy and the MREC Management. The camp provided a platform for cadets to enhance their discipline, leadership, teamwork, and overall personality development through various training activities, drills, and competitions.

An inspection of NCC activities was conducted at MREC Campus by 4T Battalion NCC Commanding Officer, Col. Amith Purty, on 22nd February 2022. The inspection reviewed the discipline, training standards, and overall performance of the NCC cadets and the unit.
The event highlighted the dedication of the cadets and the guidance provided by the ANO and MREC faculty, ensuring that the NCC unit maintains high standards of training and discipline.

Warrant Officer SM Siva Pal from the 2T Battalion NCC Air Wing Unit visited MREC on 30th May 2022 to inspect the college for the establishment of an NCC sub-unit on campus.
The visit was formally welcomed by Principal Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, along with Deans and faculty members, who extended their support and cooperation for the proposed NCC sub-unit. The inspection reviewed the college infrastructure, facilities, and readiness for hosting an NCC Air Wing unit, emphasizing MREC’s commitment to expanding NCC activities for cadets.

An NCC Guest Lecture was successfully conducted at MREC on 28th December 2021 on the topic “Scope of Employment in Defense Sector & Its PSUs.” The session was delivered by Mr. Ashok K. Panda, CCO, FEME – MCME, providing valuable insights into career opportunities in the defense sector and related public sector undertakings.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 500 students, who actively engaged in the session and interacted with the official. The lecture was well-received, inspiring students and broadening their understanding of potential career paths in defense and allied sectors.

NCC COY 2/5 MREC actively participated in the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC–I) organized by the 4(T) Battalion NCC from 3rd May 2025 to 12th May 2025 at DPS Nacharam. A total of 39 NCC cadets, comprising 26 Senior Division (SD) and 13 Senior Wing (SW) cadets, along with ANO Lt. Balaji Krushna P, attended the camp.
The camp aimed to enhance leadership qualities, discipline, physical fitness, and teamwork among the cadets. During the training period, several competitions and activities were conducted, including sports, cultural events, and intellectual contests. The MREC NCC cadets showcased exceptional performance and brought laurels to the institution with the following achievements:

These remarkable achievements reflect the dedication, discipline, and team spirit of the MREC NCC unit. The Principal, Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, congratulated all the winners and participants for their outstanding performance and assured his continued support and encouragement to the NCC unit.
The prizes were distributed by Col. Ashutosh Gupta, Commanding Officer, 4(T) Battalion NCC, along with the Administrative Officer (AO) and Subedar Major (SM). The dignitaries appreciated the cadets for their enthusiasm, commitment, and exemplary conduct throughout the camp.
The Principal, Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, and the NCC ANO of MREC appreciated NCC Cadets M. Vamshi Krishna and C. Vishnu Vardhan for successfully completing the Army Attachment Camp held at the 47 Infantry Brigade Camp from 19th to 28th August 2024 at Mehdipatnam Garrison, under the 13 Dogra Regiment. The cadets were commended for their discipline, dedication, and exemplary conduct during the camp, which provided them with valuable exposure to military training and leadership.

The 4(T) Battalion NCC successfully conducted the ATC II Camp at Pallavi Model School, Alwal, from 1st to 10th May 2024. The camp saw enthusiastic participation of over 800 cadets from both the Senior and Junior Divisions.
From MREC NCC COY-2/5, a total of 21 cadets (SD–14, SW–7) took part in the camp. The cadets actively participated in various training activities, competitions, and cultural events, demonstrating discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Yashwanth for successfully completing the ATC XII Camp held from 8th to 17th December 2023 at BTG Grounds, Secunderabad, under the 4(T) Battalion NCC, Tirumalagiri. The cadet was commended for his discipline, dedication, and exemplary performance throughout the camp.

The MREC NCC ANO Pipping Ceremony was conducted at the 4T Battalion NCC, Tirumalagiri on 12th October 2023. The ceremony was presided over by the Commanding Officer (CO) and Administrative Officer (AO) in the presence of all PI staff, ANOs, and civilian staff.
The Principal, Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, conveyed his best wishes to ANO Lt. Balaji Krushna P, appreciating his dedication and contributions to the NCC unit. The event celebrated the achievements and responsibilities of the ANO and reinforced the values of discipline, leadership, and commitment to training.
The NCC Secunderabad Group Headquarters Administrative Officer (AO) and 4T Battalion Commanding Officer (CO) appreciated Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy, Director of MREC, and the Management for providing the campus and complete facilities to the Army personnel and NCC cadets during the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC). Their support and cooperation were acknowledged as instrumental in the smooth and successful conduct of the camp.
