Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC)
The aim of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) at Malla Reddy (MR) Deemed to be University is to promote entrepreneurship among youth and nurture a passion for self-employment. As entrepreneurship is increasingly recognized as a vital driver of economic growth, this cell creates avenues for new knowledge-based innovative hi-tech ventures, industries, and technopreneurs — turning job seekers into job creators.
Recognizing the national importance of initiatives like "Make in India" and "Start-up India", the EDC strengthens entrepreneurial qualities in budding professionals. The University provides technical support, mentorship, and infrastructure to transform innovative ideas into scalable business ventures.

EDC Activities (2024 - 2025)
Invited Talk on “Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Start-ups”
Organized in association with MIC under IIC 6.0 Calendar Quarter-4 Activity in the MBA Seminar Hall. Keynote speaker Dr. C. Sharmeela (Professor, Anna University) emphasized converting innovative ideas into market-ready products. Mr. M.U. Balaji explained Government startup funding schemes.
Session on Angel Investment / VC Funding Opportunity for Early Stage Entrepreneurs
Workshop delivered by Mr. Vijay Kiran Agastya (Founder and MD, MentorMe Career Intelligence). The speaker highlighted how angel investors assume calculated risk and support high-growth venture founders.
Innovations and Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Advanced Battery Management for Electric Vehicles
Two-day technical workshop organized in association with MIC and Department of EEE. Speaker Dr. K. UdayKumar (Professor, Anna University) provided insights into EV battery management systems and clean-tech entrepreneurship.
FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR STARTUPS AND BUSINESS (World Entrepreneurs Day)
The speaker of the event was Mr. M U Balaji, District coordinator, Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute, Chengalpattu collector office Tamilnadu. The speaker emphasized on the various funding opportunities available in the Government to support a start-up. He motivated the students in turning their ideas to start-ups and also encouraged them by explaining about the Angel Investors and VC Funding.

Organized in association with MIC under IIC 6.0 Calendar Quarter-1 Activity in the Mini Audit. The guest of honor for the program was Mr.Vijay Kiran Agatsya, Co-Founder & CEO, NextGen Learning & Consulting Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad. The presidential address was given by Shri. Successful Journey of a women Entrepreneur on World Entrepreneur Day
Ms Sandhya Volety, Propreitor - Wonders-Interoir & Exterior has shared her experiences and challenges faced during her start-up journey. She also enlightened the students about how to register a company, the legal documents required for getting finance from a bank, the strategy to approach investors and making of pitch-deck presentation. After the invited talk, the students interacted with the resource person and got clarifications for their queries
Workshop on "Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Career Opportunity"
Mr.Tiger Dasu Padmanabha Rao, Career and Leadership Trainer, Hyderabad. The resource person emphasized on many factors significant to a student's career, some of which are as follows: 1. Career Awareness: Introduce students to the potential of entrepreneurship and innovation as career paths, showcasing opportunities beyond traditional employment. 2. Skill Enhancement: Equip students with foundational skills essential for entrepreneurship, such as problem-solving, creativity, adaptability, and effective communication.
Field/Exposure Visit to Incubation Unit/Patent Facilitation Centre/Technology Transfer Centre such as Atal Incubation Centre
Entrepreneurship development cell of MREC along with Innovation cell has organized a Field Visit to National Institute - Micro Small &Medium Enterprise (Ni-MSME) on 6th & 7th March 2024 under IIC 6.0 Calendar Quarter-3 Activity. Ni-MSME is an Organization of Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India. It is a pioneer institute in the field of MSME and Entrepreneurship Development.
ONE DAY SESSION ON “HOW TO PLAN FOR STARTUP AND LEGAL & ETHICAL STEPS
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) of MREC, in association with the Civil Engineering Department, organized a one-day session titled “How to Plan for Startup and Legal & Ethical Steps” on 1st April 2024 at the Mini Auditorium, under the IIC 6.0 Calendar Quarter-3 Activity. Mr. A. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, Advocate & IPR Attorney, Hyderabad, was the guest speaker. He explained startup fundamentals, business structure, founders’ agreements, legal requirements, licenses, taxation, and accounting practices.
Startup Opportunities Utilizing Principles of Industry 4.0
Dr. Manish Sharma welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Y. Nageswara Rao, Head Analyst, CS & Others, Tata Steel Ltd., Jamshedpur. The session focused on Industry 4.0, covering sensors, IoT devices, their applications, implementation methods, and real-life case studies from Tata Steel plants. The program concluded with a Q&A session, followed by participant feedback collection.
Startup Initiatives in 5G Technology
The Department of ECE, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council and Entrepreneurship Development Cell, organized a two-day workshop on “Startup Initiatives in 5G Technology” on 7th and 8th June 2023 under IIC 5.0 Quarter-4 activity. The workshop focused on 5G fundamentals, innovation, startup opportunities, challenges, and strategies, helping participants understand and explore entrepreneurship in the evolving 5G ecosystem.
Session/ Panel discussion with innovation and Start-up Ecosystem Enablers from the region/state/national level
The Department of Civil Engineering, in association with the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized a Session/Panel Discussion on the Innovation and Startup Ecosystem on 30th August 2023. The session focused on strategies to strengthen the startup ecosystem by promoting incubation, acceleration, research and development, and entrepreneurship. Innovation Ambassadors of Malla Reddy Engineering College Dr. P. Saritha, Dr. U. V. Rathnam, Mr. G. Naveen Kumar, and Mr. M. Uday Bhaskar participated and motivated students to develop innovative ideas and explore startup opportunities.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY”
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), in association with MREC-HUB, conducted a one-day workshop on “World Environment Day” under IIC 4.0 Quarter 4 on 06th June 2022 at the Mini Auditorium. The programme included an invited talk on “Save Soil – Save Planet” by Mr. Deva, Hatha Yoga Teacher, Isha Foundation, highlighting the theme “Only One Earth” and the importance of protecting soil and the environment. A total of 350 students participated in the programme.
Five Day FDP on Enhancing Research Eco-System in the Campus towards Innovation & Entrepreneurship
A five-day online FDP on “Enhancing Research Eco-System in the Campus towards Innovation & Entrepreneurship” was organized from 22–26 August 2022 at MREC, Kompally, Hyderabad, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council, Incubation Centre and Entrepreneurship Development Cell under IIC 4.0 Quarter 4 activity. The FDP was inaugurated by Dr. S. Uday Bhaskar, Dean R&D, and Principal Dr. A. Ramaswami Reddy highlighted the importance of the programme. A total of 120 faculty members participated in the FDP, which concluded successfully on 26 August 2022.
My story Motivational Session by Successful Innovators
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell, in collaboration with Institution’s Innovation Council and the Department of ECE, organized a workshop on “My Story – Motivational Session by Successful Innovators” on 15 November 2022 at the ECE Seminar Hall. Mr. Yashwanth, Founder of E-Sunrise, shared his entrepreneurial journey, challenges, and insights on using sustainable resources in transportation through green autos.
INVITED TALK ON “HINDRANCES FACED BY ENTREPRENEURS”
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), MREC-A organized an online invited talk on “Hindrances Faced by Entrepreneurs” on 24 August 2021 as part of World Entrepreneurs Day Celebrations under MIC Driven Activity. Er. Eadala Rakesh Reddy, Managing Director, EE Engineering Consultancy Services and MREC alumnus, discussed common challenges faced by entrepreneurs, including business planning, identifying opportunities, and starting and managing a venture. More than 250 students participated and positively responded to the session
Scope of Entrepreneurship and Employment in Defence Sector and it’s PSU’s
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) organized an invited talk on “Scope of Entrepreneurship and Employment in Defence Sector and its PSUs” on 28th December 2021 at the Major Auditorium. Mr. Ashok K. Panda, CCO, FEME, Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering, discussed India’s Defence Industry, employment opportunities, and the Defence India Startup Challenge supporting startups, MSMEs, and innovators. He motivated students to explore entrepreneurship, understand the process, and overcome challenges in starting a venture.
SAMBHAV" e-National Level Awareness Programme on Entrepreneurship (NLAP)
The Ministry of MSME’s SAMBHAV e-National Level Awareness Programme on Entrepreneurship was organized by MSME Development Institute, Hyderabad, in association with Malla Reddy Engineering College on 15th November 2021. The programme focused on promoting entrepreneurship among youth and students, covering MSME schemes, UDYAM registration, startup schemes, IPR, MSME grievance portals, and the role of EDCs. Resource persons and a successful entrepreneur shared valuable insights and success stories, motivating students to pursue entrepreneurship. A total of 27 faculty members and 531 students registered, with 558 participants attending online and offline sessions.
NATIONAL POLLUTION CONTROL DAY CELEBRATIONS
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), in association with MREC-HUB, celebrated National Pollution Control Day on 19th February 2022 under the MIC Celebration Day Activity. Various events including debate, painting, elocution, presentations, and skits were conducted to create awareness about pollution control. More than 50 B.Tech and MBA students participated in the activities.
