National Cadet Corps (NCC)

National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) was established under the NCC Act of 1948 and came into existence on 15 July 1948. It serves as the successor of the University Officers’ Training Corps (UOTC). Based on the recommendations of the committee headed by Pandit H. N. Kunzru, the NCC was formed as a premier national-level youth organization for schools and colleges.

During the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars, NCC cadets served as the second line of defence, actively assisting armed forces and Civil Defence in vital support roles. Today, NCC training focuses on leadership development, character building, social service, and youth management to nurture responsible and confident citizens.
